Performance Problem Analysis

In most high school CTE courses, there are aligned industry certifications that enhance the curriculum by providing students the ability to be certified in the course content. Schools use various platforms to help students prepare for these certifications through which the test is mimicked in time allowance, question format and content. The platform I use for my students is called Gmetrix. The governing body that administers the exams is called Certiport. The process of explaining the different between these two platforms, which both require accounts creation and management can be confusing and cumbersome for many students. A common performance problem with high school CTE teachers is properly preparing their students to take industry certifications. My job performance aid is a flowchart used to help teachers explain to students whether they need a Gmetrix account and how to create one and get access to their practice tests if they do. This job aid allows teachers to embed it into a LMS course page, put it in a PowerPoint slide, google classroom page, etc. It can also be interactive with live links. Allowing this process to be explained and completed without additional time and instructions for the teacher is very useful and aids in classroom efficiency. It can even be used by someone like a district instructional staff developer in creating new teacher training modules/courses as certifications are a large part of every CTE teacher’s curriculum enhancement process.
